oh man, people need to stop asking me about race. all i know about is having fun! *all i knew about was having fun!
everyone sucks, you know? white people suck. indian people suck. black people suck. latino people suck. asian people suck. people of all sexualities and economic classes suck. find the good ones and be happy you found them. i am.
i sometimes think i should specify “upper class heterosexual western european white males” instead of “white people” but i assume that’s understood. when i assume i make an ass of me. my bad. there’s just a lot of white people in this country because they stole it first! so many white people, in fact, that “upper class heterosexual western european white males” in all its categories is still a large number of people and more worrisome than that is the amount of money and power contained within that community.
that said, i wasn’t consumed by racism until i went to wesleyan. when i was super young my crew was a haitian kid, a puerto rican kid, a chinese kid, a white kid and me. then until i was 16 i skrictly hung out with indian kids from queens. around that age i started hanging out with korean and white people. the korean and indian kids i would hang out with would make fun of white people all of the time. it was fun. can i say again that white people - nay, upper class heterosexual western european males - are maddd corny and fun to make fun of. (SEE THOUGH THERES NO NICE RING TO IT LIKE “WHITE PEOPLE” AND ALSO AFTER BEING CALLED AN INDIAN PERSON MY WHOLE LIFE ITS FUN TO REMIND WHITE PEOPLE THAT THEY ARE WHITE BECAUSE THEY JUST THINK THEY ARE THEY). although we weren’t constantly complaining about racism or letting it slowly kill us. we hung out with our people and didn’t let other people phase us. then i went to wesleyan and was around a different non-nyc type of white kid and also learned about racism academically instead of firsthand and it started slowly killing me. i cant help but think if i didnt pay 27k a year after financial aid to go to that rich ass college i’d have gone to binghamton or st johns and just hung out.
i’m a middle-class (we came up) light-skinned heterosexual indian male. i should complain less and do more. racism is the worst when its institutionalized. rapping about race is great but you know whats better, doing something about the prison industrial complex. that’s why i want to work with SEVA NY in queens to actually make a difference and not talk about racism in an interview here or there like its doing anything except providing white people and middle-class people of color with jokes for fodder.

anyway, i suggest you stop being silly. love is love. if your white guy isn’t a demon and treats you right and makes you happy then be happy. he might not ever get what its be like to be black but surely there’s 90 other things about you that make you who you are and he understands some of those. everyone “gets” being a straight white dude - media and the straight white men that control media ensure this much - although there’s probably things about him you won’t ever fully “get”. if that’s not the case and he’s pretty much just a white demon you should toss him to the curb.
