Anonymous asked: hey im indian, in my early 20's. my bro an i didnt take the route of a dr. or some shit, so my rents have never really accepted what i do. (i am in music) do u think its hopeless to believe that they will someday respect what i do? no matter the accolades I receive... im not famous, but there are som impressive signifiers... of course my parents recognizing or knowing the significance of those signifiers is another thing... somethins like MTV they understand so dey get it on some level.
if your parents aren’t proud of what you do make sure they’re proud of how you do it. my parents don’t give a shit about rap but they know i work my ass off to manage, market, and make music in das racist. they don’t know what running a record label entails but they correctly assume it’s not easy. your parents want what’s best for you and in this economic climate that’s job security, which even at my level of “success” in music is not a given. my parents still bring up law school. i still think about grad school. keep at the music. keep living life. be nice to your mom and dad!
